In an effort to limit bump drafting at Daytona Speedway, Nascar is introducing the "No Zone", a no bump drafting area on the race track for the remainder of all Daytona race activities this week. Demonstrating an ability to be very clear, concise and to the point when explaining this new "rule" Nascar Nextel Cup Series Director John Darby said
"The drivers have ultimate control. We just have to establish...with them that enough is enough. Every bump draft will not create a penalty and every time a car touches another car will not create a penalty. But if it becomes very apparent to us that there is an unnecessary hit, especially in one of those no zones, we will have the ability to react."
In an unrelated story, Chad Knaus was caught manipulating the word bump draft claiming to have developed a new way to bump draft without really bump drafting.
Check out the story here.
I noted this evening a referral link from Pit Raod Post at my place, welcome to the blogosphere!
There has been a change by NASCAR that may be in place prior to the Talladega event.
They are working to remove all the extra bracing and steel work from the front of the cars to cut down on the bump drafting.
