From all accounts it turned into a free for all. However based on the outragious comments by the local politicians, and some of those opposed to the project, most of the problems most likely came from the "anti" portion of the crowd.

I did a little research on those opposed and found gems like this from one SI resident: “all types of classes of people will attend.”

And this from presummably intelligent Vice President of the American Cancer Society, Alberta Brescia.

“Staten Islanders can send volunteers to see hot dogs.”

That's the entire quote folks and it's not out of context.

You just can't make up this stuff.
